TCEQ Seeks Public Comment on Draft 2006 Texas Water Quality Inventory and 303(d) ListBeveridge & Diamond, P.C. - Texas Environmental Update, March 2007 TCEQ has released for public comment its draft 2006 Texas Water Quality Inventory and 303(d) list. This report describes the status of the state’s surface waters including concerns for public health, fitness for aquatic species and other wildlife, and specific pollutants and their possible sources. The 303(d) list included in the inventory identifies waters that do not attain standards for their use. Water quality data and information used in the report covers the time period from December 1, 1999 to November 30, 2004. The report includes several new listings for a number of segments classified as Category 5 (i.e., the water body does not meet applicable water quality standards or is threatened for one or more designated uses by one or more pollutants) including a number of new Category 5a segments, those for which a TMDL (total maximum daily load) is underway, scheduled or will be scheduled. New 2006 delistings, such as where the most recent data demonstrates that water quality standards are now met, are also proposed. Comments on the report and proposed listings must be provided to TCEQ no later than April 18, 2006. Any data submitted for the purpose of demonstrating the inaccuracy of current assessments must be collected based on approved TCEQ methods and quality-assurance requirements. Additional information regarding the report is available on the TCEQ website.1 For a printable PDF of this article, please click here. 1 http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/compliance/monitoring/water/quality/data/ |
