TCEQ to Reject Data from Unaccredited Labs Beginning July 1, 2008

Analytical data submitted to the TCEQ in permitting and enforcement matters after June 30, 2008 must be generated by a lab that is accredited by the TCEQ’s Texas Laboratory Accreditation Program under the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) standards, unless: (1) the lab is an in-house lab meeting stated criteria; (2) the lab is accredited under federal law; (3) the data are needed for emergency response activities and no TLAP-accredited lab is available; or (4) the lab supplies data for which the TCEQ does not offer accreditation.  The new policy implements the requirements of 30 TAC §§25.4 and 25.6  The TCEQ’s notification of the new policy is located on the TCEQ website.1
